Services - General Help

System Access

Users with a valid account can login, either locally or remotely, to any of the BMSDL workstations. For security reasons, rlogin, rsh, and telnet are not allowed. Please use ssh instead.

User Environment

All users are strongly encouraged to use system-wide cshrc for setting up their environment. A sample .cshrc file can be obtained here.

General help on Unix editors and X interface are available at Supercomputing Institute support page. Users are strongly encouraged to contact User Support Staff in person or via email at help@msi.umn.edu. Also, see the list of Supercomputing Institute tutorials.
