REQUEST FORM

Computational Genetics Laboratory
Access procedures and reporting requirements

Requesting access

The consolidated access request form is used to establish a research project at the Computational Genetics Laboratory and thereby establish access to the laboratory's resources. This form is available in PDF and RTF formats or by contacting Barbara Opal, the Supercomputing Institute's Research Programs Administrator, at (612) 625-0012 or projects@msi.umn.edu. Both hard copy and electronic submissions of the consolidated access request form are accepted. Questions regarding access can be addressed to Barbara Opal, the Supercomputing Institute's Research Programs Administrator, at projects@msi.umn.edu or (612) 625-0012.

For Institute administrative purposes, a research group may be headed by a single principal investigator (PI), or it may have one PI and one co-PI. The PI and co-PI should be faculty members of the University of Minnesota. All projects with the same PI or same combination of PI and co-PI are treated as a single project for administrative convenience.

Adding a new user to an existing project

To add a new user or group member to an already established Computational Genetics Laboratory research project (i.e., a research project that already has access authorized through the peer review process for the period in question), the principal investigator needs to either complete the new user form at the Request Forms link above or provide the following information to:
accounts@msi.umn.edu
  1. name of principal investigator (and, if applicable, co-principal investigator)
  2. name of new user or new group member
  3. mailing address of new user or new group member
  4. email of new user or new group member
  5. telephone number of new user or new group member
  6. reporting code of new user or new group member
  7. U card number (this is necessary for access to the lab)

Also, please let us know if the existing title and/or abstract of this project needs to be changed.

Reporting requirements

The Supercomputing Institute looks forward to seeing the results of your work. We request that all research reports and preprints of work supported in whole or in part by this allocation be submitted to the Supercomputing Institute to be included in the UMSI Research Report Series. Please submit one preprint of all research reports and reprints to the Research Reports Coordinator, Supercomputing Institute, 599 Walter, 117 Pleasant Street S.E., Minneapolis, MN 55455 (or campus mail). We encourage you to submit your papers electronically. Questions regarding electronic submission should be addressed to the reports coordinator at submissions@msi.umn.edu or (612) 625-0012. The Supercomputing Institute should be acknowledged in such publications in the byline, the acknowledgments, or both. We also would appreciate your sending us material suitable for the Supercomputing Institute Research Bulletin.
