First SIAM International Conference on Data Mining

April 5–7, 2001

The First SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) International Conference on Data Mining provided a forum for presentation of recent results in data mining. The field of data mining draws upon extensive work in areas such as statistics, machine learning, pattern recognition, databases, and high performance computing to discover interesting and previously unknown information in data sets. Presentations at the conference included talks about applications, algorithms, software, and systems.

2001 Midwest Theoretical Chemistry Conference

October 5–6, 2001

The 34th Annual Midwest Theoretical Chemistry Conference brought together researchers and students in the areas of theoretical chemistry. The conference allowed senior scientists (faculty and other senior researchers) to present their research and accomplishments in plenary sessions. It also included poster papers from students and postdoctoral associates.
