Netfinity Linux Cluster Hardware Information

Netfinity is an IBM Netfinity cluster of two different kinds of compute nodes.

Hardware and Configuration

The compute nodes are divided as follows:

Forty IBM xSeries 330 nodes

Eleven IBM xSeries 330 nodes

Network

All of the xSeries 330 nodes within the Netfinity cluster are interconnected with a non-blocking Myrinet fabric used for interprocess communication (IPC). The Myrinet fabric is a very low latency, high bandwidth network with peak performance of 2 GB/second in unidirectional and 4 GB/second in bi-direction bandwidth, the intent of which is to accomodate high-speed communication for MPI jobs.
