Download and install the Windows Citrix Client from http://www.citrix.com/site/SS/downloads/downloads.asp. Once the Presentation Server client has been installed, you will need to configure it to logon to particular server such as sdvlapp32.msi.umn.edu. The setup includes:
- Server name: sdvlapp32.msi.umn.edu or sdvlapp64.msi.umn.edu
- Select the desired encryption level: 128 Bit (sdvlapp32) or Basic (sdvlapp64)
- Login information: user name: yourusername
- Login information: Domain: DTC
- Network Protocol: TCP/IP
- Windows Size: your choice: 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768
- Window Colors: your choice: 256, thousands, millions
Using the configuration information from above, you will add ICA connection that point to the specific server such as sdvlapp64. In Windows, you add connections from the Citrix Program Neightborhood (MacOS clients use the Citrix ICA Client Editor). The screens below will walk you through setting up an ICA connection to the first the sdvlapp32:
Go through
Start -> Programs -> Citrix -> ... Program Neighborhoodto open the "Citrix Program Neighborhood" windows. Then click on 'Add ICA connection' icon.

Enter the appropriate server name such as sdvlapp32.msi.umn.edu and connection description sdvlapp32. Change the Network Protocol to TCP/IP.
Choose encrption level to 128 Bits (sdvlapp32) or Basic (sdvlapp64) on this page, click 'next'.
Fill in User name: my_msi_usrname, leave Password empty, and Doman: DTC
You can adjust the display settings both in colors and size. A typical setting of high color and 1024x768 works well.
No change necessary on this page, click 'next'.
Click on 'Finish' button

You should now see a new icon for the connection you have just created. You can also do "Create Desktop Shortcut" too.
Yu can now logon to specific server by clicking the icon or shortcut of sdvlapp32 icon. You will see a screen similar to the one below which looks like a normal Windows logon screen.
Once you have logged on, you will get a desktop similar to the one below which looks like a standard Windows XP client. You are ready to access windows applications.

Your local computer C disk may be mapped as "Client C (V:)" or so. Also your local printer may be available on citrix computer sdvlapp32 too.
