LyX is a text editor for generating LaTeX documents. Its WYSIWYG-like front end enables the user to see what the document should look like without taking the step of generating the dvi file.
You can start the LyX session by typing lyx and return. From the help menu, choose Introduction and/or Tutorial to read LyX's on-line manual.
