MSI Services

MSI offers more than 125 million hours of free computing annually to University of Minnesota faculty and collaborators. Access is determined by the "fair share" algorithm in the SLURM system, favoring groups with lower recent computing usage. To ensure access, faculty can lease dedicated hardware on existing HPC systems. Additional services and prices are detailed, including generous storage allocations for research projects. Groups needing extra storage beyond justified limits have options. For inquiries about purchasing dedicated access, contact help@msi.umn.edu.

Consulting

MSI consultants are highly trained staff who are familiar with leading-edge software.

High Performance Computing

MSI's High Performance Computing (HPC) systems are designed with high speed networks, high performance storage, GPUs, and large amounts of memory in order to support some of the most compute and memory intensive programs developed today.

Interactive HPC

MSI’s interactive HPC resources are composed of some of the same systems used to support our batch scheduled HPC activities.

Batch HPC

The large high performance computing resources at MSI are often in high demand, with over 900 research groups and four to five thousand unique researcher logins competing for time.

Dedicated Computing

Dedicated computing options are available for purchase when an MSI allocation is not enough to meet your computational needs.

Data Storage

All MSI users have access to High-Performance Storage that is integrated across all of our systems.
