Intro to Scanning

At the Institute's Scientific Development and Visualization Lab, you may scan images or text. The scanner is located in SDVL Imaging Room and is connected to the G4 Macintosh, m1.

Images

To scan images, start Adobe Photoshop . Adobe Photoshop is in the folder "m1/Applications/Graphic Arts/Adobe Photoshop". When this folder is opened, click on "Adobe Photoshop".

In Adobe Photoshop, pull down the "File" menu to "Import" and then slide the mouse to the right and pull the "Import" menu down to "ScanWizard PPC3.0.6". Again, you may scan images or text . The scanning procedure is the same, but the settings are different.

Place the image that you want to scan on the scanner, image side down. The upper left corner of the image should be at the corner of the scanner closest to you.

Text

Text is scanned using Instant Access OCR. Before you scan, place the text that you want to scan on the scanner, text side down. The upper left corner of the itext should be at the corner of the scanner closest to you.
