MPEG movies

We have generated two MPEG movies for each of the three visualization parts introduced in the mathematical formulation of the bonded block problem. The first movie has a better resolution and contains more frames than the second movie. The second movie is a short version of the first movie and is faster to download through the Internet than the first one. You may want to read Valery's comments about his MPEG movies for the Synth Art Exhibition.

Small free-surface becoming looped. Movie free (2.25 Mb, 640x480, 230 frames).

This movie corresponds to the sequence of frames shown in Figure 1 and illustrates the self-intersecting material behavior in the neighborhood of the upper corner for increasing values of the punch displacement U.

Very small free-surface becoming looped. Movie short free (1.03 Mb, 320x240, 115 frames).

Short version of movie free.

Small free-surface becoming looped. Movie grid (2.25 Mb, 640x480, 230 frames).

This movie corresponds to the sequence of frames shown in Figure 2 and illustrates the self-intersecting behavior of material lines in this neighborhood of the upper corner for increasing values of the punch displacement U.

Very small free-surface becoming looped. Movie short grid (1.14 Mb, 320x240, 115 frames).

Short version of movie grid.

Small small punch displacement. Movie zoom in (2.53 Mb, 640x480, 261 frames).

This movie corresponds to the sequence of frames shown in Figure 3 and illustrates the logarithmic spiral behavior at small scale, order O(e-10 L), from the upper corner of the punch.

Very small punch displacement. Movie short zoom in (1.09 Mb, 320x240, 146 frames).

Short version of movie zoom in.
