Elucidating the Rules of Translation Control

In the past ten years, a growing body of literature has documented that messenger RNA translation is an important control point in the gene expression pathway, especially in embryonic development, regulation of cell growth, and differentiation and tumorigenesis. The goal of this study is to identify the genome-wide rules of translational control. The Bitterman laboratory uses polyribosome assay, gene expression profiling, and data-mining methods to further the understanding of translation control, which will enable them to study details about health and disease.
