Genotyping of Brain Response to Psychotropic Medications; Prenatal Virally Induced Brain Disorder

These researchers are using several MSI laboratories for two projects. In the first, they are analyzing the chronic effects of psychotropic medications on gene expression profiles in adult male rats using microarray, quantitative PCR, and western blotting techniques. The added information will be of significance in the treatment of major psychiatric illnesses. In the second, they are analyzing the effects of prenatal influenza virus on the brains of mouse offspring. The information they gain in this project will be of significance in mapping genes potentially involved in the etiology of autism and schizophrenia. The researchers are using the BSCL, the CGL, the BMSDL, and the SDVL for their research.
