Fatty Acid Synthase Thioesterase Inhibitors for the Treatment of Ovarian Cancer

The goal of this study is the structure-based design of the thioesterase domain of human fatty acid synthase (FAS TE). Crystal structures of FAS TE with affinity labels and known inhibitors are used as the basis for the design of novel inhibitors, assisted by molecular modeling. FAS TE inhibitors should be useful for the treatment of ovarian cancer and other cancers. The group is using the BSCL and the BMSDL for this project.
