Two-dimensional Numerical Simulations of Cardiac Action Potential

Modeling electrical activity of the heart and complex patterns that underlie abnormal cardiac behavior such as fibrillation requires a quantitative model of action potential propagation. At the present time, there exist detailed ionic models that accurately reproduce dynamical features of cardiac action potential at a single-cell level. The purpose of this project is to simulate an ionic model of action potential in a two-dimensional sheet of cardiac tissue.
