The Effect of Cell Therapies in the Treatment of Established Cardiovascular Disease

These researchers are involved in several projects related to cell therapies to treat cardiovascular disease. In one, they are investigating the use of intramycardial skeletal myoblasts as a therapy for ischemic cardiomyopathy. Another project involves CD34+ bone marrow cells, which are considered a potential therapy for cardiac function recovery in acute myocardial infarction. The researchers are investigating intravenous versus intramuscular administration of CD34+ cells. A third project considers the relationship between progenitor cells, biomarkers, and risk factors for cardiovascular disease in an investigation into vascular repair.
