Cosmic Microwave Background Mission Design and Analysis

The Hanany group focuses on the design and implementation of the EBEX mission, which completed an engineering flight in June 2009, to study the polarized cosmic microwave background. These efforts promise to yield strong constraints on models of the origin and evolution of the universe. Instrumental design efforts and development of the data analysis pipeline for EBEX require significant computing power, and soon data from the test flight will be available for analysis. The group has also used MSI resources to continue data analysis for the MAXIPOL mission, the predecessor to EBEX.
