Stereoselective Synthesis via Cyclohexadienones and Axial Chiral Allenes

Cyclohexadienones and axial chiral allenes are excellent starting materials for stereoselective syntheses. This researcher plans to harness the reactivity of these compounds through three main strategies. One involves the development of new catalytic reactions for desymmetrizing achiral cyclohexadienones. Another entails designing reagents carrying out enantioselective dearomatization of phenolic starting materials. Finally, the development of transition metal catalysts will allow for the direct synthesis of axial chiral allenes from simple achiral starting materials.
