Analysis of Arabidopsis and Medicago Trichome Cell Transcriptomes

Trichomes from Arabidopsis and Medicago are being used as model systems to address important questions in plant biology. These questions include: how cell fate is controlled; how is cell wall synthesis controlled; and how is metabolic flux of metabolites through biochemical pathways controlled. This group’s recent approach has been to isolate trichomes from various wild-type and mutant plants for RNA isolation and the generation of probes suitable for hybridization to gene chips. Resources at the BSCL provide essential support for the analysis of the gene chip transcriptome data.
