Analyzing Overlapping Peptide T Cell Response to GPCMV by Cytokine Flow Cytometry

Human cytomegalovirus (CMV) is one of the most common causes of birth defects and childhood disabilities and poses a significant risk for morbidity and mortality among immunocompromised individuals. Currently, there are no vaccines licensed for CMV. To develop a CMV vaccine that elicits a strong cell mediate response, T cell epitopes from viral proteins must be identified. Many major targets of cell mediate response have been identified but immunodominant epitopes have been not been mapped in guinea pig CMV. This researcher uses this model to characterize CMV antigen specific T cell epitopes and possible vaccine targets.
