Stereoselective Synthesis via Cyclohexadienones and Axial Chiral Allenes

Cyclohexadienones and axial chiral allenes are excellent starting materials for stereoselective syntheses. This researcher used three main strategies to harness the reactivity of these compounds. One involved the development of new catalytic reactions for desymmetrizing achiral cyclohexadienones. Another entailed designing reagents carrying out enantioselective dearomatization of phenolic starting materials. Finally, the development of transition metal catalysts allowed for the direct synthesis of axial chiral allenes from simple achiral starting materials.
