Simulation of Tunnel Transistors Using MATLAB

One of the main focuses in microprocessor research is to make the transistors smaller for high speed and low power consumption. However, shrinking the dimension beyond a certain point is not possible due to physical limits. Hence, there is a need for a new device technology that can replace traditional transistors. The aim of this project is to evaluate "tunnel transistors” that can provide fundamental benefits and see how they perform in comparison to existing technology. In order to do so, the researchers need to perform exhaustive simulations of tunnel transistors using MATLAB scripts. The scripts are long and usually run for several days. This lengthy process is expedited by use of the supercomputers.
