Metabolic Pathway Reconstruction and Flux Analysis

These researchers are reconstructing genome-scale metabolic networks of the two annotated Ostreococcus species O. tauri and O. lucimarinus. Draft pathways are constructed from the Kyoto database and will be iteratively refined using gap analysis. The researchers are taking, and creating tools for, an algorithm-based approach to network reconstruction. This will allow them to quickly update networks to revisions in genome annotation. In addition, this generic network reconstruction approach is less biased by human curation and developed methods are cross-species applicable.
