Quantifying the Scaling Properties of Rainfall and Soil Moisture
This research project focuses on scale issues in hydrometeorology and understanding the roles that rainfall and soil moisture play at different scales in modulating land-atmosphere interactions. The overall goal is to improve predictions of the water and energy cycles across all scales. This research involves hydrologic modeling, numerical weather prediction, coupled land-atmosphere modeling, statistical analysis of rainfall and soil moisture data, and development of methods to transfer hydrologic variables from one scale to another.
