Clinical Innovations Laboratory

In order to accelerate the translation of clinical research into practice, new partnerships with primary care providers who deliver the majority of care to the U.S. population need to be developed. These partnerships should enhance the ability of investigators to conduct research, as well as facilitate the delivery to clinicians of better tools to provide care. The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health’s Clinical Innovations Laboratory uses emerging technologies to develop new functionalities for primary care providers, facilitate Practice-Based Research Network (PBRN) methodologies, and provide primary care practices throughout the U.S. with electronic resources compatible with most electronic health records. The Clinical Innovations Lab provides PBRN directors, clinical research organizations, and clinical translational science centers with sophisticated solutions for integrating primary care physicians and their practice populations into the academic clinical research enterprise.
