Predicting Ventricular Fibrillation and Tachycardia by Uncovering Chaotic Indicators in Sinus Rhythms

This research involves the categorization and controlling of chaotic dynamics within biological systems. The researchers are looking at time series data for ventricular fibrillation and tachycardia. The part of the project that involves MSI’s contribution is a program called the Chaos Data Analyzer, a DOS program that calculates defining characteristics of underlying chaotic attractors from given empirical time series, involves analyzing experimental time series from 135 pairs of interval time series, recorded by implanted cardioverter defibrillators in 78 subjects. This program is crucial to the completion of the research.
