Analysis of Bacterial Communities and Genomes

These researchers use MSI to analyze microbial genomic data. The projects included under this work involve: assembly and annotation of bacterial genomes; analysis of bacterial RNA-Seq experiments; analysis of 16S rRNA pyrosequencing experiments; and analysis of metagenomic sequencing experiments. These projects center around better understanding the modulations of animal gut microbial communities and the role of pathogens in the development of enteric disease. The researchers are also interested in the dissemination and persistence of mobile genetic elements within the gut and the environment.
