Linking Home Visiting Intervention With Client Outcomes

Current health care quality mandates and funding constraints in public health nurse home visiting require evidence of effectiveness for home visiting intervention strategies. In a previous study, data mining methods and a public health nursing documentation dataset were used to examine patterns in client characteristics and nursing interventions. Client clusters provide clinically relevant information about types of clients, distribution of services, and differences in client ratings. They provide a baseline for future client and intervention clustering and rationale for differential intervention effectiveness research. The purpose of this study is to explore relationships between client and intervention clusters and their associations with client outcomes, with the end goals of improving practice, client outcomes, and population health.
