Analyzing Apple and Potato Genomic Data

The introduction of new commercial varieties of apples and potatoes provides new germplasm that can be utilized in researching how changes in genetic structure can affect gene function. These researchers study how genetic differences in related but different apple varieties affect their fruit’s ability to maintain crispness. They perform similar investigations with different potato varieties to learn how genetic differences affect anthocyanin synthesis and plant responses to blue light. To accomplish these projects, they use MSI resources to analyze genomic data.
