Minnesota’s Mild Winter Causes Late Lake Icing

Ecology and Environment

Associate Professor Peter Snyder (Soil, Water, and Climate), who uses MSI for investigations into climate change, was recently interviewed on Minnesota Public Radio as part of a story about the mild winter of 2015-16 and how it’s affecting the state’s winter sports industry. Fall 2015 was very mild, and was followed by one of the warmest Decembers on record, causing lakes in the region to remain ice-free late into the season.

The MPR story can be found on the MPR News website. A story about Professor Snyder’s research using MSI was featured on the MSI website in June 2014.
