Stability of Repetitive Minisatellite DNA Sequences
Research in the Kirkpatrick lab centers on identifying the factors that control stability of repetitive DNA sequences, with an emphasis on minisatellite DNA tracts. The researchers use genetic, genomic, and molecular biological approaches in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, including whole-genome analyses and extensive use of mutant screens. Currently we are investigating the factors that affect minisatellite stability during meiosis, and in quiescent cells that have entered stationary phase.
