Project Title:
Otopathology
This work aims to evaluate the anatomical relations between the facial nerve and lateral semicircular canal. Recent studies revealed that facial-lateral canal dehiscence might be a cause of dizziness, vertigo, and hearing loss. Computed tomography studies do not have sufficient resolution to study the interface between these two structures. Therefore, these researchers plan to use histopathological images (tissue slides) to perform a 3D reconstruction of the temporal bone to better analyze the interaction between these structures.
