Project Title:
Microbiomes of Water Treatment Systems and Water Distribution Systems

The Hozalski lab uses molecular biology tools (e.g., DNA sequencing) to characterize microbial communities in engineered environments used to treat and convey potable water to the public. Supercomputing resources are needed to analyze the millions of sequences obtained from the Illumina MiSeq platform at the University of Minnesota Genomics Center. This work has important implications for drinking water quality and public health.
