Wild Rice Breeding, Genetics, and Conservation

The wild rice breeding, genetics, and conservation group is working to develop genetic and genomic resources in wild rice (Zizania palustris). The objectives of this project are to develop a reference genome and molecular markers for Zizania palustris, and to investigate the genetic diversity present within and among this breeding program, in natural wild rice stands, and among four different species of the genus Zizania.
