Project Title:
Characterizing Magnetic Coils for Wireless Power Transfer
This research aims to develop power electronics systems that are miniaturized and efficient, and then apply these systems to a wide range of applications such as electric vehicles, robotics, medical devices, plasma generation, and renewable energy systems. Furthermore, the researchers extend the systems to provide wireless power transfer (WPT) to eliminate manual intervention during battery charging. To improve the performance of WPT systems, the researchers much characterize the coils in the WPT system, and find a way to increase the coil efficiency. This project will develop coil models in COMSOL, measure different parameters of the coils, and optimize the coil design based on the measured data.
