This project uese a Bayesian approach to measure the strength of legislatures across the world. The researchers utilize the raw data from the Varieties of Democracy dataset, which obtains measures about legislatures around the world by surveying country experts. They use these expert opinions as the input and after applying IRT models, seek to discover the latent variable that is legislative power.
