This group studies the dynamics and functions of the soil microbial community related to plant disease. They use MSI resources for analyzing high-throughput amplicon sequencing data of soil fungi and bacteria. They use the Mesabi system for these analyses, including sequence QC, filtering, dereplication, OTU clustering, and taxonomic assignment. The researchers have recently expanded their work to analyze whole-genome sequencing data and meta-transcriptome data, which requires storage and computing resources at MSI.
