This group is studying right ventricle (RV) heart failure associated with congenital heart disease in a large animal model (pig). The project uses next generation sequencing and related bioinformatics support. The researchers are analyzing gene expression differences (using RNA-seq) in the heart during early postnatal development. They will also evaluate gene expression differences in a novel neonatal pig model of RV heart failure that they are generating. Together, this data will be used to identify regulatory pathways that are critical for the RV and that might be manipulated during heart failure. Bioinformatic analysis of these datasets are ongoing.
