These researchers are performing biogeochemical modeling of the global oceans using an earth system model of intermediate complexity developed at MSI, called MESMO2. This research focuses on the variation in the elemental stoichometry biological organisms in the ocean, and the resulting effect on their evolution, distribution, and climatic changes. In addition, the researchers are using using the National Center for Atmospheric Center's earth system model for higher resolution climate and biogeochemical studies.
This research was featured on the MSI website in June 2018: Models of Water Mixing in Lake Superior.
