Project Title:
Visual System Evolution Genomics and Phylogenetics
This lab works in the evolution of visual systems, currently using the sea anemone Nematostella vectensis as a model animal. The lab generates maximum likelihood and Bayesian phylogenetic trees for gene families found in this organism, as many of the genes are not yet described. Additionally they are generating RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and scRNA-seq datasets from wildtype and transgenic animals that must be quality checked, filtered, and analyzed. They use a variety of software programs avaiable through MSI.
