Project Title:
CAD of Tissue-Engineered Valves

This group has adapted ANSYS codes for heart valve flow (fluid-structure interaction, FSI) and the closed valve “contact problem” to guide the design of the leaflet geometry to identify the most promising designs. For example, for a specific valve design, combinations of leaflet height and area that minimize stress concentration and washout time behind the leaflets, and confer acceptable open valve pressure drop, can be identified. ANSYS "System Coupling" is used for solving FSI problems in ANSYS (coupling the Fluent and Structural modules).
