Project Title: 
Prediction and Optimization of Thermal and Plasmonic Properties of Nanoparticles

Students in this group are working on predicting the thermal and optical properties of composites loaded with nanoparticles. The specific projects include:

  • Calculating the field-averaged optical responses of nanostructures and composites using effective medium theory (EMT) and Maxwell’s equations, as well as the commercial software FDTD (Lumerical), available through MSI
  • Molecular dynamics simulations for phonon dispersion and thermal properties of nanomaterials
