Project Title:
Modeling Crustal Flow and Mantle-to-Surface Dynamics of Landscapes
These researchers are conducting 2D thermo-mechanical modeling that has two main areas of focus:
- The geodynamic processes that occur during flow of continental crust (investigation of deep-crust lateral flow and ascent trajectories, rates, durations, thermal/mechanical consequences). The researchers are using Underworld 1 and its most recent update, Underworld 2, a 3D-parallel geodynamic modeling framework.
- Landscape evolution in response to large-changes in crust/mantle geotherms (for example, uplift and subsequence erosion). The group is using Pecube and possibly other modeling packages.
