2024 Dist McKnight U Professors

2024 Distinguished McKnight University Professors

Eight MSI PIs have been named Distinguished McKnight University Professors. This program recognizes outstanding mid-career faculty members who have recently achieved full professor status.

MSI News

The MSI PIs on the list are:

David R. Boulware (Medicine)

  • Professor Boulware’s lab concentrates on meningitis in resource-limited areas. He is using MSI for translational research that is combined with clinical research into disease pathogenesis\.

Peter Bruggeman (Mechanical Engineering)

  • Professor Bruggeman use MSI resources for computational simulations of plasma jets mixing with surrounding air, electric field distributions of complex geometries, and for chemical kinetics modeling.

Paul Dauenhauer (Chemical Engineering and Materials Science)

  • Professor Dauenhauer uses MSI resources for calculating intermediate energies in the process of performing catalytic conversion of sugars and other biomass-derived compounds.

Jason Hill (Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering)

  • Professor Hill uses MSI computation and storage resources for air-quality modeling to evaluate the air-quality related health impacts of food and energy systems.

R. Stephanie Huang (Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology)

  • Professor Huang uses MSI resources for translational pharmacogenomics and to run computational models that use large-scale genomic and transcriptomic data, with emphasis on the pharmacogenomics of anti-cancer agents.

Chad L. Myers (Computer Science and Engineering)

  • Professor Myers uses MSI resources to support research that generates and analyzes genetic and chemical-genetic interaction network data from a variety of species, as well as analysis of human genetic variants to discover disease associations.

Eric W. Seabloom (Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior)

  • MSI provides support to the NutNet, an international network that is seeking to understand the extent to which and consumers (e.g. introduced species) control plant communities and ecosystem services in grasslands around the world. Professor Seabloom is a co-coordinator of this project.

Changquan Calvin Sun (Pharmaceutics)

  • Professor Sun uses MSI to study the structure-property relationship of organic crystals, for modeling the packing of molecules in a crystal, and to calculate the energetic and mechanical properties of crystals, with the aim of creating pharmaceutical crystals suitable for manufacturing into tablets.
