Grant to Study Tick-Borne Pathogens

NIH Grant to Study Tick-Borne Pathogens

MSI PI Peter Larsen (assistant professor, Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences) and Assistant Professor Jon Oliver (Environmental Health Sciences) are co-PIs on a grant from the National Institutes of Health that will study the transmission tick-borne pathogens such as Lyme disease. The grant is for $3.4 million over five years, and a key goal is to improve our ability to track diseases that may be missed by current detection methods. A story about this grant appears on the School of Public Health website: With new NIH grant, University of Minnesota study will use innovative tools to research tick-borne pathogens in the field.

Professor Larsen uses MSI resources for multi-omic analyses that seek to identify epigenomic vulnerabilities contributing to disease at the wildlife-livestock interface.
