Healthcare and Societal Health Issues

The Carlson School of Management has teamed up with the Minnesota Hospital Association to explore how societal health issues can be addressed by innovations in healthcare funding. MSI PI Pinar Karaca-Mandic (professor, Department of Finance ) is co-leading this project along with Dr. Rahul Koranne, President and CEO of the Minnesota Hospital Association. The project has received a $500,000 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. A story about this project appears on the University of Minnesota News site: $500,000 Grant Fuels UMN Researchers to Explore Innovation in Healthcare Funding to Address Societal Health Issues.

Professor Karaca-Mandic uses MSI resources to analyze large Medicare data files as part of research into consumer learning, product differentiation, and the value of generics.
