2021 AAAS Fellows

Two MSI PIs, Professor Gary Muehlbauer (Agronomy and Plant Genetics) and Professor Peter Tiffin (Plant and Microbial Biology), have been named lifetime fellows by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). This award honors members of the AAAS who have distinguished themselves in their work to advance science or its applications. Five University of Minnesota faculty members were selected as 2021 Fellows. Professor Muehlbauer uses resources at MSI to study the genomes of barley, wheat, soybean, and hops. Professor Tiffin uses MSI to for several projects related to rhyzobial and legume genomics, symbiotic biology, experimental population evolution, and plant structural variation.
