If a PI does not renew their affiliation with MSI before the end of an allocation period (December 31), MSI will at the end of that allocation period make the PIs data non-accessible. PI data includes all project spaces, home directories of the PI and members of the PI's group and any other data stored at MSI that is the property of the PI.

MSI will contact non-renewing PIs at the start of a new allocation period to remind them of the MSI Data Retention Policy. It is the responsibility of the PI to ensure that MSI has correct contact information.

At the end the non-renewed allocation period (one year) MSI will delete any PI data stored on MSI resources. MSI will not be able to recover any data once the data has been removed from the system.
