A 3D Immersive Virtual Prototyping Environment Using High-Performance Computing
The technologies of computer modeling and simulations have been commonly used in solving all kind of medical device design problems. Among those problems, complicated or coupled systems, such as tissue-device interaction and fluid-structure interaction are commonly seen. Solving these types of systems requires significant computation time. These researchers are developing a 3D immersive virtual prototyping environment medical device design. The environment is equipped with natural human-computer interfaces and has the ability to communicate with commercial computer-aided engineering tools. The environment is designed to take advantage of MSI's high-performance computing power to enormously reduce computation time, and thus provide large-scale design exploration and evaluation. The ultimate goal is to achieve simulation-based medical device design in real time.
