Functional Genomics for Livestock Species
This group focuses on the development of functional annotation of livestock species' genomes, primarily cattle and swine. Functional annotation is developed through the use of gene expression experiments using microarrays and RNA-Seq methods, as well as the analysis of genotype and whole-genome re-sequencing data. The lab is developing a database to facilitate the integration of physical and genetic data from human, mouse, and pig. The lab is also facilitating the current genome wide association studies to do functional classification of the bovine SNPs as well as pleiotropic gene detection. MSI resources are used primarily for the storage and analysis of high-throughput sequencing data.
A bibliography of this group’s publications acknowledging MSI is attached.
