Signal Transduction and Lymphocyte Development and Their Roles in Leukemia
These researchers are using MSI for three projects in their lab. They are studying the effects of a transcription factor called STAT5b in B cells and T cells. STAT5b is associated with the development of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Another project involves regulatory T cells, or Tregs, and how they develop. Tregs are focused on high-affinity self-antigens like insulin and in that capacity help to prevent autoimmune reactions like diabetes. The third focus area, which bridges the other two, is cancer immunotherapy. The team is tracking how the immune system responds to tumor antigens in leukemia.
