Functional Neuroimaging and Bio-impedance Imaging

The electromagnetic process and properties of biotissue provide rich diagnostic and functional information. These researchers are engaged in studies of imaging modalities, including high-resolution spatio-temporal bioelectromagnetic source imaging, functional MRI, and bio-dielectric properties imaging, all of which have promising potential applications in disease prediction. Computer simulation studies are conducted to obtain the behavior of electromagnetic field under assumed excitation using a realistic human geometric model. Approaches include use of the finite element method and various signal and image-processing algorithms. This research requires MSI capabilites such as large memory, multi-core CPUs, and software packages such as ANSYS, Comsol, and ANSOFT.
